What are the requirements to become an instructor?
Professional experience and teaching ability are the most important factors in hiring new instructors. Requirements vary from program to program. However, professional experience in your field of expertise in the last 3 to 5 years is required. License or certification and formal teaching experience is also preferred but not required.
What if I have never taught at a college or university?
No problem! If you have the experience and the qualities we are looking for, we can teach you to be a great instructor. New instructors receive a comprehensive orientation and training session prior to the first class meeting. We provide all the resources you will need to be successful.

Can I continue to work full-time at my current job?
Yes! The majority of our instructors work full-time in their current field and teach 1 or 2 evenings per week for BRC.
How much time does it take to teach a program?
It depends on the instructor's experience and the program being taught. It takes a seasoned instructor between 45 minutes and 1 hour to prepare for each class. Classes can meet between 1 and 5 days per week, however most classes meet 2 days per week for 3 hours a day or 1 day per week for 7 hours. New instructors without teaching experience can expect to spend more time reviewing the curriculum and making notes to prepare for a class.
Does BRC offer instructor training and development?
Yes! Every new instructor goes through a two part orientation and training session and receives ongoing coaching from a Program Manager or other BRC instructor. In addition, BRC offers numerous opportunities for current instructors to develop new skills to apply in the classroom.
